A Poem

I’m used to being up when you’re asleep
it gets worse the closer you are to me
the world spins under your gentle breathing
no one knows what you are dreaming
miles away, I’m far from sleeping
tonight you are not mine
purple sky outside your window
worries on the bedside table
everything can wait til tomorrow
but tonight you are not mine
another day spent on your feet
and I’m not beside you
warm in bed, sound asleep
and I’m thinking of you
the world spins under your gentle breathing
no one knows what you are dreaming
miles away, I’m far from sleeping
tonight you are not mine
I’m used to being up when you’re asleep
It gets worse the closer you are to me
